Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-14

This page describes exactly which cookies and local storage mechanisms are used by Sentinel Briefing on sentinelbriefing.com. We have deliberately chosen to use no marketing or advertising cookies.

1. What Is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Cookies allow information to be remembered between visits (session, preferences, etc.). Sentinel Briefing also uses the browser's localStorage — a similar mechanism that is never sent to the server and stays entirely local on your device.

2. Cookies and Local Storage Used

Name Type Category Duration Purpose
sentinel_session HTTP cookie (server) Essential 24 hours Maintains the authentication session. Without this cookie, it is not possible to stay logged in.
sentinel_lang localStorage Essential Persistent (until cleared) Remembers your language preference (FR/EN) so you don't need to set it on each visit.
sentinel_theme localStorage Comfort Persistent (until cleared) Remembers your chosen visual theme (light or dark) to personalise the display.
Umami Analytics No cookie Anonymous analytics N/A Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (pages visited, session duration). Umami sets no cookies, collects no personally identifiable data, and does not enable cross-site tracking. Natively GDPR-compliant.

3. What We Don't Use

Sentinel Briefing uses none of the following:

  • Advertising or targeting cookies
  • Social media cookies (Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, etc.)
  • Cross-site trackers (fingerprinting, beacons, etc.)
  • Google Analytics or any cookie-based tracking tool

4. Managing Your Preferences

Essential cookies are required for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. localStorage data (theme, language) can be cleared at any time via your browser's developer tools (F12 → Application → Local Storage).

You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that disabling the session cookie will automatically log you out.

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Edge
